About small rain

Small, on purpose

small rain is one developer in the Pacific Northwest, making games, objects and the software underneath them. Sometimes all three at once.

It started because building things was the good part. It kept going because a few of those things turned out to be worth handing to other people. There is no hurry, and no plan to get bigger.

What it makes

Games. Gods of Small Change is a 3D coin-pusher shrine game where four minor gods judge every offering you make. It is built in Godot and in beta on iOS and Android. Two free daily puzzles run in the browser: Parcel, a tile-laying game where the animals move in overnight, and Pencilmark, a sudoku whose hints teach the technique instead of giving the answer.

Objects. Racing Lines turns real racing circuits into topographic relief plates, cut from public elevation data and the real track centreline and printed in four filaments. The models are free to download, and the pipeline behind them takes commissions.

How it works

Every decision goes through the person who cares most about the thing being made, because there is only one. Nothing gets scaled for the sake of scale.

The studio sits in the kind of place where it rains most of the year and the trees are very tall. It is good thinking weather, and better finishing weather.
